Carroll Police Respond to A Crash Late Thursday Afternoon

No injuries were reported in a Thursday afternoon motor vehicle crash in Carroll, but one of the drivers was taken into custody. The Carroll Police Department responded to the scene at the intersection of U.S. Highways 30 and 71 at approximately 4:42 p.m.  Twenty-year-old Kara Seidl, of Carroll was stopped at a red light on Highway 30 in a 2009 Jeep Liberty when she was struck by a 2013 Cadillac SRX driven by 43-year-old Travis Brownell of Sergeant Bluff. Authorities say Brownell failed to stop at the stop sign, leading to the collision with the Seidl SUV. Functional damage was sustained by both vehicles. Officers determined that Brownell was intoxicated and was arrested for an OWI first offence. According to law enforcement, his blood alcohol content near the time of the crash was 0.137.
