All six of Iowa’s representatives in Washington, D.C. have joined in a bipartisan plea to President Biden to provide federal disaster relief to Iowans impacted by the severe storms that swept through the state Dec. 15. Senators, Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst, and Representatives, Randy Feenstra, Ashley Hinson, Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Cindy Axne, penned a letter Feb. 2 requesting additional aid for more than two dozen counties impacted by the storms, including: Audubon, Buena Vista, Calhoun, Greene, Guthrie and Sac Counties. The storms caused significant damage to public and private property across Iowa and produced at least 43 tornadoes, a new single-day record for the state. Gov. Kim Reynolds previously indicated the widespread nature of the damage is beyond the state’s ability to respond and federal intervention is necessary. A copy of the full letter can be found included below.
