Adair Man Accused Of Felony Forgery Sentenced To Up To Five Years In Prison In Carroll County District Court

An Adair man originally charged with seven counts of forgery in District Court for Carroll County has been ordered to serve prison time. Thirty-year-old Jackson Lee Norton was arrested by the Coon Rapids Police Department on Oct. 8 following an investigation into a series of stolen or forged checks reported between Aug. 24 and Sept. 13 of last year. Norton pled guilty to a single class D felony count after reaching an agreement with prosecutors and was sentenced at the end of January to five years in prison. He was also ordered to pay nearly $2,500 in fines, surcharges and victim restitution. His five-year sentence will run concurrently to sentences that may be imposed in several ongoing cases in Adair, Cass, Greene and Polk Counties for forgery, firearm and drug charges. As of Monday morning, Jackson remained in custody at the Adair County jail pending completion of those other cases.
