Electrical Short Believed To Be Cause Of Monday Afternoon Fire In Carroll

An electrical short is believed to be the cause of a fire at a residential structure yesterday (Monday) afternoon in Carroll. The Carroll Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 3:40 p.m. to 1102 N. Main St. Upon arrival, crews spotted smoke emanating from the south gable end of the two-story structure. The blaze was quickly brought under control with most of the estimated $25,000 in damage occurring in the attic area and southernmost exterior wall. No injuries were reported, but tenants of the three apartments within the structure were unable to return to their homes due to the extent of the water and smoke damage. The Family Resource Center and American Red Cross is currently working to find temporary housing for the displaced residents. The Carroll Police Department and Carroll County Emergency Medical Services also assisted at the scene.
