Six local large group speech teams have been selected as All-State performers following the Iowa High School Speech Association’s (IHSSA) state contest over the weekend. Carroll High School’s (CHS) group improvisation team earned the recognition thanks to their outstanding performance at Spencer High School on Saturday. IKM-Manning had four teams earning All-State honors in group improvisation, short film and TV news. South Central Calhoun’s radio broadcasting team rounded out the local All-State large group speech nominations. The 2022 All-State Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 19 at the Iowa State Center in Ames, where high-achieving performers from around the state have the opportunity to share their acts one last time. Individual speech events begin the following week with district contests slated for Saturday, Feb. 26.
