Attempted Bicycle Theft Leads To Felony Charge For Storm Lake Man

A reported bicycle theft has led to multiple charges against a Storm Lake man. At approximately 3:50 p.m. on Tuesday, the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the 400 block of W. 9th Street for a burglary in progress. The reporting party told law enforcement a male subject had entered their garage and attempted to leave with the bike. The suspect fled when confronted by the resident, and authorities located the individual, identified as 34-year-old Branigan Wesley William, later that evening. William attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended a short time later. Authorities say he physically resisted arrest and was transported to the Buena Vista County jail after being subdued. William is charged with third-degree burglary, a class D felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia and interference with official acts, both simple misdemeanors. As of Wednesday morning, he remained in custody on a $5,600 bond.
