Lake View city officials are beginning the search for a new police chief after their current chief announced he would be leaving to take the same position with the Denison Police Department. The city council selected Brandon Rinnan in September 2020 to lead the agency. Rinnan is an Urbandale native who returned to Iowa after a 14-year stint with the Aurora Police Department in Colorado. Rinnan is filling a vacancy created by the departure of Dan Schaffer, who was hired to head the Lake City Police Department in November.
