Railroad crossings in Carroll are blocked this (Sunday) morning due to a mechanical issue with a Union Pacific train. According to law enforcement, the Carroll City/County Communications Center was contacted by the company at approximately 7:30 a.m. to report the blockage. All ground level crossings are impassable at this time, but the Highway 71 viaduct can be used as an alternative. Union Pacific Railroad has dispatched crews to work on the stopped train, but they were unable to provide an estimate for when it will be moved.
