An estimated $5,000 in damage was reported following a car vs. deer accident just east of Jefferson Monday morning. The Jefferson Police Department was dispatched at approximately 5:29 a.m. to the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Oakland Avenue. Their initial investigation found a 2007 Toyota Yaris, driven by Faith Wood of Ames, was traveling westbound on 30 when the car collided with the animal in the roadway, resulting in functional damage to the Toyota’s front end. Wood was uninjured in the accident.
