In just over three months, Merchants baseball returns to Carroll for their inaugural season in the highly competitive M.I.N.K. Collegiate Baseball League, and the organization is excited to announce who will be leading the team during the 2022 season. Merchants Baseball Club Vice President, Chris Whitaker, says they were fortunate to secure contracts with two up-and-coming coaching talents.
Due to the challenges posed with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, historic Merchants Park has been without its titular team for two seasons. Club President, John Perrin, says there was real concern it could have stretched into a third until they received word they had been accepted into the M.I.N.K. League last November.
Whitaker adds the M.I.N.K. League has a storied, 11-decade history with ties to Major League Baseball (MLB), so fans can expect a high level of play throughout the season.
Opening day is the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, and Whitaker says they have plenty of work left to do to get ready, chief of which is to find places for Merchants players to stay.
