One driver was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle collision west of Humboldt yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon. According to the Iowa State patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 4:39 p.m. on Highway 3 near the intersection with Delaware Avenue. The initial investigation determined a 2019 Nissan Kicks, driven by 56-year-old Brenda Knight of Fort Dodge, was traveling eastbound when she crossed the centerline and collided with a westbound 2006 Hummer H3, operated by 59-year-old Becky Rice of Pocahontas. Knight was transported by Humboldt County Emergency Medical Services to Humboldt County Memorial Hospital but died from the injuries sustained. Rice was also taken to Humboldt County Memorial Hospital for treatment. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, Gilmore City Fire Department and Humboldt County Medical Examiner assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the scene.
