Tomorrow (Saturday) is opening day for the 2022 Carroll Chamber of Commerce Court Classic with more than a hundred games scheduled to be played over the weekend. The 2021 event was canceled due to the pandemic and bad weather nixed it in 2019. However, Tournament Director, Kurt Baumhover, says it feels great to have the Court Classic back in Carroll’s many gyms.
The Court Classic has grown into one of the largest youth basketball tournaments in the state in the 15 years since its creation. According to Chamber Program Director, Ashley Schable, they have teams from as far away as Sergeant Bluff, Belmond and Creston coming to compete. While the weekend is all about basketball, do not forget the economic impact of several thousand players, coaches and fans coming to town.
Baumhover says one of the best parts about the Court Classic is the environment they are able to provide for these young players.
Schable says they have partnered with an online tournament tracker to help fans follow the games and find where their teams will be playing.
The first games tip off at 8 a.m. Saturday morning and continue throughout the weekend. Admission wristbands are just $10 each and are valid for every 2022 Court Classic game. For more information on locations, schedules, sponsors and more, follow the link included below.
