Gladys Teter of Coon Rapids

Gladys Irene Teter, age 92, of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away on February 16, 2022, at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids.
Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids with Rev. Joyce Webb officiating.  Burial will be in the Orange Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids.
Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5 – 7 P.M. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.  Additional visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Thursday from 10 – 10:45 A.M. prior to the service.

Gladys was born at home in Victory Township in Guthrie County on April 17, 1929, to Beryl and Eunice (Bennett) Betts.  Gladys was united in marriage to Kenneth Teter on November 17, 1947, in Guthrie Center. They lived in Omaha, Nebraska for a very short time then moved to Des Moines for a year and a half. Gladys worked at Younkers in alterations while Kenny worked for Brown Body, Mag Electric and a filling station.
They moved back to Kenny’s family farm and the family began to grow.  In the early years, Gladys was a homemaker but, in the fall, she would sort corn for the hybrid & later became head cook for Congregate Meals for years.  Gladys enjoyed cooking, sewing, hosting family events, taking pictures, ice cream, taking care of her animals, but most of all spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Gladys is survived by daughter Connie McPherson of Coon Rapids; daughter Debbie Gust (Greg) of Brayton; son Rick Teter of St. Joseph, MO; daughter Susan Lord (Jason) of Carroll; daughter Pamela Eischeid (Tony Derner) of Dedham; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Sharon Crissey of Ottumwa and Rose Teter of Ogden and Irene Betts of Arizona; and a brother-in-law Richard Teter (Faby) of Arroyo Hondo, NM; and other extended, many good friends, and her beloved dog Lizzy.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents Beryl and Eunice Betts; and her father and mother-in-law Berthal and Opal Teter; brother Howard (Coiela/Velma) Betts; Walter (Lucy) Betts; her sister Marie (Chuck) Marsh; and her husband Kenny in 2019.
