Jefferson Police Department Responded To Multiple Vehicle Accidents Last Week

The Jefferson Police Department responded to two vehicle accidents that occurred last week in Jefferson. The first one occurred on Thursday, Feb. 17 at approximately 2:42 p.m. An officer responded to the traffic collision at East Lincoln Way and South Locust.  A 2018 Chevrolet Cruze, owned by Aaron Stoffa of Grand Junction but operated by Jeanette Stoffa, was eastbound on Lincoln Way, and a 2002 Ford Windstar, owned by Floyd Laxson of Jefferson and operated by Joann Laxson, was traveling northbound on South Locust Street. Authorities say Laxson entered the intersection without stopping and hit the Stoffa vehicle. Both vehicles received minor damage. Laxson was issued citations for failure to obey stop or yield sign and failure to carry registration card. The second accident occurred at approximately 5:51 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18. A 2008 Chevrolet Impala, operated by Duane Forkner of Jefferson, was southbound on North High Street, and a 2021 Jeep Compass, operated by Debra Dinapoli of Panora, was eastbound on West State Street when the vehicles collided in the intersection. Damage to the Forkner vehicle was estimated at $1,500 and $2,500 was the approximate damage to the Dinapoli vehicle. Forkner was issued a citation for failure to yield to a vehicle on the right.
