GOP leaders announced yesterday (Tuesday) Iowa Governor, Kim Reynolds, has been chosen to provide the Republican response to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address on March 1. Her Republican colleagues in Iowa are praising the selection of Reynolds. Sen. Chuck Grassley says, “Under Gov. Reynolds’ bold leadership, Iowa has smartly navigated the pandemic and economic fallout, promoting a safe and swift return to normalcy. Iowa’s path to continued prosperity is a roadmap for the rest of the nation. Gov. Reynolds continues to keep Iowa open for business and schools open for children without burdensome and unnecessary mandates or restrictions.” District 4 Congressman, Randy Feenstra, also lauded the GOP’s choice. He says, “Because of her vision and leadership, Iowa is one of the best places to live, work and raise a family. I am honored to call her a friend and look forward to her strong response to President Biden’s failed agenda for Iowa and our country. Frankly, this administration could learn a few things from Gov. Reynolds and her proven leadership.” Sen. Joni Ernst echoed her colleagues’ support for Reynolds, saying, “I can’t think of a better person to make the case for freedom and liberty and against the radical Biden agenda than Gov. Reynolds.” President Biden’s State of the Union Address is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1.
