Dennis Danner of Carroll

Dennis Danner, 77 of Carroll, died Saturday, February 26, 2022, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by his family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at St. John Paul II Parish – Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter.  Music will be by Kathy Halbur. Lector for the Funeral Mass will be Rita Danner. Lauren and Elizabeth Danner will present the offertory gifts. Eucharistic Minister will be Ann Danner.  Honorary Casket Bearers will be Denny’s grandchildren. Casket Bearers will be grandsons: Adam Snyder, Caleb Danner, Brandon Danner, Luke Polzin, Nicholas Littlefield, and Conner Okones. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Additional visitation will be from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for Kuemper Catholic Schools or Iowa Donor Network.  Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Denny’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com.
Dennis Danner, the son of Paul and Anna Mae (Sander) was born on March 23, 1944, in Maple River, Iowa. When he was a child, they moved to Carroll, and he attended St. Lawrence Elementary School; he graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1962. During high school, he worked as an attendant at Reiff Standard Service in Carroll. Shortly after graduation, he was a grain delivery driver for Juergens Produce & Feed in 1964. On August 22, 1964, he married Laura Ann Hoffman at Holy Angels Catholic Church by Monsignor Lawrence Hoffman.
The couple resided in Carroll. To this union, they had 10 children. In 1965, he joined the farming operation with his father. Besides his love for his family, he loved farming. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Some hobbies including bowling, camping, restoring antique tractors, cheering on the Chicago Cubs & Iowa State Cyclones, and morning coffee with close friends.
Left to celebrate his life are: his wife of 57 years Laura Ann (Hoffman), Doug (Angie) Danner of West Des Moines, Jerry (Jean) Danner of Carroll, Kathy (Clay) Hall of Waukee, Beth (Mike Hockey) Danner of Carroll, Lynne (Kelly) Polzin of Spring, TX, Pat (Carla Robinette) Danner of Nora Springs, Eric (Ann) Danner of West Des Moines, Amie (John) Littlefield of Ankeny, Angie (Bryon) Okones of Ankeny; their 15 grandchildren Brittany, Adam, Brandon, Carly, Caleb, Megan, Maya, Nicholas, Cody, Rita, Colin, Luke, Conner, Lauren, and Elizabeth; 5 stepgrandchildren; sister Jennifer (Mike) Peterson of Ankeny; brothers-in-law Richard Sibenaller of Glidden, Edward (Lorraine) Hoffman of Lidderdale, LaVern Langel of Templeton, sisters-in-law Adella (John) Vogl of Adair, Alvera (Virgil) Rosonke of Manning as well as nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Patricia at birth, grandson Benjamin at birth, sisters Janet (William) Gehling, Joyce Sibenaller, several siblings at birth, parents-in-law Andrew (Laura) Hoffman, sisters-in-law Louetta Langel, Velma Hoffman, and Rosie Sturm.
