Moselle Loeschen of Glidden

Moselle Anita (nee Brewer) Loeschen, age 91, of Glidden, IA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Tabitha Nursing and Rehab in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden with Pastor Alan Miller officiating.  Special music by grandson Daniel Loeschen and Becky Miller as organist.  Casket bearers are Daniel Loeschen, Jayme Woods, Noah Woods, Stan Gegel, Mike Gegel, and Tim Juarez.  Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery in Glidden.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home from 5-7 P.M. on Monday evening.  The casket will be moved to the Peace Lutheran Church at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.

Moselle was born to Rev. E. W. M. and Martha Brewer on August 7, 1930 in Forest City, IA.  She attended school in Williamsburg, IA where she graduated from High School.  She went on to attend Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, MN, graduating with her AA and obtained her license to teach in Iowa.  She would later go on to obtain her BA in Education from Drake University in Des Moines, IA.
Moselle met her husband Paul W. Loeschen of Glidden, IA at her father’s church, Peace Lutheran.  They were married on August 31, 1952 in that same church, with her father officiating.  Their union was blessed with the birth of 2 sons, David Paul and Daniel Benjamin.      
She was devoted to her teaching career and the success of every one of her students.  She taught various places throughout her career touching the lives of countless students and their families whom she loved dearly.  She taught at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Fort Dodge, IA; Immanuel Lutheran, a two room schoolhouse in Lidderdale, IA; and St. Mary’s in Willey, IA.  She then moved into special education and taught at Grant School #5 in rural Carroll county, IA and Fairview Elementary in Carroll, IA before retiring in 1989 to care for her ailing husband. 
Moselle was known for her kindness, patience, intelligence, and willingness to serve others any chance she could.  She was a proud member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society and active in the Walther League.  She dedicated countless hours to serving her church in various capacities:  Sunday School teacher and Superintendent, Ladies Aid member, Altar guild, Vacation Bible School, Greeting Card organizer, and a member of the weekly quilting group.  She also loved spending as many precious moments as possible with her family, reading books, playing the piano, and doing crossword puzzles. 
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Debra Loeschen of Lincoln, NE; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Jayme) Woods of Lincoln, NE; grandson, Daniel (Casey) Loeschen of Watertown, NY; 4 great-grandchildren, Noah Woods, Evelyn Woods, Kaliya Loeschen, Elliana Loeschen; sister, Eunice Gegel of Baldwin, IL; beloved nieces and nephews; other relatives and many dear friends. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Elmer and Martha Brewer; husband, Paul W. Loeschen; infant son, Daniel Benjamin Loeschen; brother, David Brewer; sister, Jennine Johnson; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Gegel, Clifford Loeschen; sister-in-law, Eleanor Loeschen; Nephews, Rev. Brian Gegel and David Clare Brewer; other relatives and friends.   
Her resurrection spot will be in Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery in Glidden, IA where her mortal remains will be raised imperishable at the glorious return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
