Rose Marie Iler, 95 of Carroll, died March 1, 2022, at Addington Place in Carroll surrounded by family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2022 at St. Lawrence Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter. Music will be by Kathy Halbur. Gift Bearers will be Melanie Hundling, Lisa Grote, Kara Nitz, KaLynn Wood. Casket Bearers will be David Iler, Brice Hundling, Jon Grote, James Nitz, Matthew Nelson, and Don Wood, Jr. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. There will be a rosary prayed at 7 p.m. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church on Friday morning where visitation without greeting the family will be held from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, and online condolences may be left for Rose Marie’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com.
A daughter of John and Rosalia (Behrens) Lutwitze was born on May 15, 1926, in Halbur, IA. Before she met her husband, Bob, Rose Marie lived in Halbur, Manson, Lanesboro, and Carroll. Rose Marie graduated from St. Angela’s Academy in Carroll and began working at the Carroll County Courthouse shortly after. She married Bob Iler, May 7, 1951, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll.
Rose Marie and Bob farmed in the Lake City area for many years. They retired in Carroll, IA in 1990. Rose Marie was a member of St. John Paul II Parish, St. Lawrence Church.
She enjoyed gardening, baking, and her grandchildren. She was best known, by her grandchildren, for her chocolate chip cookies. Throughout her life she enjoyed visiting her
children.
Rose Marie is survived by her husband of 70 years, Bob; her children, Sue (Jim) Nelson of Cherokee, IA, Nancy (Steve) Williams of Houston, TX, and Dianne Wood of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.
Rose Marie is proceeded in death by her parents and parents-in-law; sons, Michael Iler and Craig Iler; son-in-law Donald Wood Sr.; and sister Lucille Nobiling.
