A Storm Lake man is charged with attempted murder following a violent altercation late last week. According to the Storm Lake Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 11:30 p.m. Thursday to a home in northern Storm Lake in response to a report alleging 29-year-old Edgardo Ruedas of Storm Lake had attacked a victim with a knife, resulting in severe injuries to her face and hands. Buena Vista County Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. Ruedas was taken into custody and booked into the Buena Vista County jail on multiple charges, including attempted murder, a class B felony; willful injuries causing serious injury, a class C felony; and domestic abuse assault with a dangerous weapon and child endangerment, aggravated misdemeanors. As of this (Monday) morning, Ruedas remained in custody on a $37,000 bond. The Iowa Department of Human Services and Buena Vista County Attorney’s Office also assisted in the investigation.
