Yesterday (Sunday), the Storm Lake Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance in the 600 block of Superior Street. When authorities arrived, they identified the two subjects as 31-year-old Kattie Johnson of Storm Lake and 29-year-old Darius Daniels of Storm Lake. Officers say Johnson and Daniels engaged in a physical altercation at the residents, and after the fight, Daniels threatened to shoot Johnson. Authorities say a search led to a handgun found in Johnson’s possession and the magazine in Daniels’s possession. Storm Lake Police say Daniels has a previous criminal conviction which prohibits him from possessing a firearm. Both were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Buena Vista County Jail. Authorities obtained a search warrant and found two additional handguns, a rifle, and various ammunition. As a result of the incident, Daniels was charged with domestic abuse, assault with a weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor, and two counts of possession of firearms or ammunition by a prohibited person, a class D felony. Johnson was charged with domestic abuse assault, a simple misdemeanor. Both are being held without a bond in Buena Vista County Jail.
