Gov. Kim Reynolds ordered all flags in Iowa to half-staff today (Wednesday) in honor of an Iowa native firefighter killed last month responding to an Arkansas car crash. West Memphis Firefighter, 20-year-old Jason Lang, who is originally from North Liberty, was killed in the line of duty on Feb. 26. Gov. Kim Reynolds says, “My heart breaks for the family, friends and brothers and sisters in uniform for the tragic passing of Jason Lang, a young, accomplished and dedicated public servant. While others run from tragedy, Jason followed his passion and calling for helping others and unfortunately paid the ultimate sacrifice. Kevin and I join with Iowans in honoring his selfless sacrifice and legacy in serving others.” Flags will be at half-staff on the State Capitol Building, on flag displays in the Capitol Complex and on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state through sunset today (Wednesday). Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly flags at half-staff for the same length of time as sign of respect.
