Lake City Council Will Host a Public Hearing On Their USDA Grant At The Next Meeting

The Lake City Council met on Monday with a relatively light schedule. Some of the main topics were a police chief’s recommendation of hire and a public hearing date on a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) grant. City Administrator, Eric Wood, says the police department is fully staffed now.

Wood also mentioned the USDA grant they are receiving is for a new police vehicle, and they have also used this grant in the past to purchase other vehicles. USDA requires the city to hold a public hearing when applying for grants to know how much they are receiving and where it is going. Wood explains how much they are receiving in the grant.

Wood also says that purchasing a vehicle will not happen right away they have just started the process. The public hearing is set as the exact date of the next city council meeting on March 21st at 5:00 p.m.
