No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle collision last (Wednesday) night on Highway 71 in Carroll. The Carroll Police Department was dispatched to the scene of the crash near the intersection with SW Access Road at approximately 5:10 p.m. Their initial investigation determined a 2008 Toyota Highlander, operated by 54-year-old Karen Hurd of Carroll, was stopped on Access Road and waiting for traffic to enter the highway. A 2019 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by 35-year-old Abby Ortner of Auburn, was also on Access Road waiting for traffic. Authorities say the Ortner vehicle struck the Hurd SUV, resulting in functional damage to both cars. Ortner was cited for following too close.
