Sac City Man Arrested Last Month For Arson Now Faces Drug Trafficking Charges

The Sac City Police Department has released the details of a drug trafficking arrest made at the end of February. According to law enforcement, 28-year-old Casey Alan Herrig of Sac City, who has also listed an address in Lytton, is charged with two counts of controlled substance violations, class C felonies. Authorities say Herrig had sold methamphetamine during at least two controlled buy incidents. Herrig was also taken into custody several days before this arrest in connection to an SUV found burned near Lytton. Law enforcement alleges Herrig stole a 2005 Chevrolet Blazer and abandoned it after setting it on fire on Feb. 16. He is charged with second-degree arson, a class C felony, and second-degree theft and possession of a firearm by a felon, class D felonies, in connection to that incident. As of Monday morning, Herrig remained in custody at the Sac County jail.
