A Des Moines man accused of indecent contact with a child filed a guilty plea last week to the aggravated misdemeanor charge levied against him in Carroll County District Court. Court records show 36-year-old Paul Mathew Synowiecki, formerly of Carroll, is accused of inappropriately touching a minor on or about Aug. 18, 2014. Authorities allege Synowiecki was staying overnight at a home in Ralston and touched the juvenile female victim’s inner thigh area while she was sleeping. Authorities say the girl was nine years old at the time of the incident. A hearing to accept Synowiecki’s plea is slated for May 12, with a sentencing hearing to be scheduled at a later date. An aggravated misdemeanor in Iowa carries a maximum penalty of up to two years in prison and $8,540 in fines.
