The Carroll County Attorney’s Office is showing support for the citizens of Ukraine as the Russian invasion of the sovereign nation stretches into a fifth week. Yesterday (Tuesday), the blue and yellow Ukrainian flag could be found flying beneath the American flag just outside the offices of Carroll County Attorney, John Werden. He says, “My thoughts and prayers are for the people of Ukraine who are suffering unimaginable horror as their neighbor attacks them. I am just trying to do what little I can do by donating to international humanitarian relief efforts for the refugees who have been forced to flee and aid Ukraine.” An estimated 10 million refugees have been forced to leave their homes due to the Russian invasion. Many international organizations have established funds to help those impacted. Individuals interested in donating are encouraged to vet the receiving entity and research how funds are utilized before sending their contributions.
