After decreasing slightly last week, fuel prices in Iowa ticked up across the board as of Wednesday, March 30. According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, the price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.89 in the state. This is two cents higher than last week and $1.12 higher than one year ago. Statewide prices remained well below the national average of $4.24. Diesel fuel climbed 10 cents in the last week to $4.82 per gallon, compared to $3.07 last March. As of yesterday (Wednesday), the national average for diesel fuel stood at $5.12 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged at $2.16 per gallon. Home heating fuels also ticked higher in the last seven days. The price for a gallon of propane was up one cent to $2.11. Home heating oil jumped 29 cents to a statewide average of $4.39 per gallon, while natural gas climbed 31 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site to $5.57/MMBtu.
