Region XII Council of Governments announced yesterday (Thursday) that there will be a very slight rate increase later this month for the discounted taxi tickets offered to elderly and disabled riders at Carroll City Hall. Currently, those tickets are available to qualified individuals for only $3 each or $30 for a book of 10 tickets and can be used with cab companies within the City of Carroll who participate in the program. However, the price of each ticket is increasing by 50 cents, or $5 more per book, starting April 18. COG Transit Director, Matt Cleveland, says, “The last ticket increase was many years ago. Fuel and other operating costs have increased, and the cab companies have no choice but to pass on those increases. The cab companies have been good partners to the community and us in helping transportation-disadvantaged persons get to their destinations. We are pleased to continue to partner with them to ensure our clients have this option.” He notes the actual price increase per ticket is one dollar, but Region XII is picking up the other 50 cents. According to Cleveland, tickets purchased before the price increase are still valid, even after April 18. Riders with questions are encouraged to contact Region XII by calling 712-792-9914.
