The Carroll Community School District Board of Education is looking to change its health care plan for the next school year. These changes only affect school employees. One of the things they considered was going from a fully funded plan to a partially funded plan. The employees currently pay a deductible, and after that is paid, Wellmark will take care of the rest. The school now has three plans set up with deductibles: $500, $750, and $1,250. The board then considered going with a larger plan of $5,000 and letting Wellmark take care of the rest. They settled on a partially self-funded plan. Superintendent, Dr. Casey Berlau, says the deductible for the employee will remain the same as it is now, but after the employee hits their deductible, the school will pay up to $5,000. Once this mark has been met, the insurer takes care of the rest. The board discussed this at their meeting earlier this week. The next CCSD Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 21, in the Adams Elementary boardroom.
