The Northwest Iowa League of Cities selected three local students to receive scholarships created to support students interested in a career in municipal service. The 2022 scholarship program recipients are Trevor Hansen of Carroll, who hopes to pursue a criminal justice degree; Jordan Hanson of Ar-We-Va, who is also considering a future in law enforcement; and Kenya Prescott of Kuemper, who has an interest in forensic science. Recipients will receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Northwest Iowa League of Cities to be used on post-secondary education or training expenses that may result in employment by city government. Five scholarships are awarded annually with funding for the program generated through private and commercial fundraising. The Northwest Iowa League of Cities encompasses 27 counties in the northwestern quadrant of the state with more than 100 communities involved.
