CCSD Board Of Education Votes To Go Forward With The Bidding Process For A Third Lane In The High School Parking Lot

After Yesterday’s public forum (Thursday), the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education continued with multiple items scheduled on their agenda. Topics included discussing an air conditioning project, quotes for a new phone system, and adding a new third lane to the high school parking lot. Superintendent, Dr. Casey Berlau, explains what the parking lot project is.

Berlau adds that they would tear out the lane that is currently there and redo it adding the third lane in with the construction. He says approximately what the base bid of this project is.

If the board moves forward with the project, the money will come from a Physical Plant and Equipment Levy, which amounts up to 33 cents per thousand dollars of assessed valuation. Board Members Duane Horsley and Kristen Lundstrom expressed some concerns about the project. Lundstrom says she would have said yes to this in years past, but she feels the exiting the parking lot has been a lot better this year. Horsley feels they should address the parking lot by fixing the potholes. Berlau adds he agrees they need to keep improving the parking lot, but they are still putting drivers out on the road and would feel more comfortable with a three-lane driveway.

The board voted to move ahead with the bidding process but has not taken action on whether the project will happen. The board will meet on Monday, May 2, for a work session at 5:30 at Adams Elementary.
