A Churdan man injured in a two-vehicle collision yesterday (Saturday) morning near Lanesboro has died. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 11:37 a.m. near the intersection of Velvet Avenue and 130th Street. Authorities say 31-year-old Alexander Fister of Lytton was traveling northbound on Velvet in a 2019 Dodge Ram and failed to yield to a posted yield sign at 130th Street. The Fister truck entered the intersection and collided with the driver’s side of a westbound 2022 GMC Sierra, driven by 69-year-old Dennis Hardy of Churdan. Carroll County Emergency Medical Services transported both drivers to Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City for treatment. Hardy later died of his injuries. According to law enforcement, he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the scene.
