United States Representative for Iowa’s fourth congressional district republican, Randy Feenstra, was in Carroll Friday afternoon taking a tour of St. Anthony Regional Hospital. The tour started in the new cancer center, and the Director of St. Anthony Regional Cancer Center, Lori Pietig, added how many new patients they had come to the center last year.
Pietig adds with the success of the Cancer Center, they are able to add a new doctor. Feenstra says their work is truly remarkable, being in rural Iowa. Pietig says they get a large group of people outside the county
The Cancer Center has now treated patients in from four different states. Pietig adds that they are contracted with other hospitals if patients do need care outside of St. Anthony
Pietig and Feenstra closed out by saying it is very rare and a blessing to be a stand-alone hospital in rural Iowa. St. Anthony was not the only stop for Feenstra in the listening area, as he was in Audubon County earlier in the day.
