Arcadia Woman Arrested In November For Impersonating Gov’t Official Pleads Guilty To Lesser Charge

An Arcadia woman accused of impersonating a government official to gain access to a rural Breda residence has filed a guilty plea to an attempted burglary charge in Carroll County District court. Thirty-year-old Cassandra Lynne Vonnahme was arrested on Nov. 2 by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office after an investigation found she had fraudulently claimed to be an inspector employed by the Carroll County Assessor’s Office. Authorities say she entered the victim’s home on Oct. 30 under false pretenses and stole prescription pain medications. Vonnahme initially faced a single count of second-degree burglary, a class C felony, but the charge was amended to third-degree attempted burglary, an aggravated misdemeanor, as part of an agreement with prosecutors. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, May 12. The charge carries a maximum penalty of up to two years in prison and more than $8,000 in fines.
