Jimmy Alvin Jentzen, age 71, of Waukee, IA, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Unity Point – Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral service will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor ?? officiating. Casket bearers will be Jim’s family and good friends. Burial will be in the Arcadia Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 1:00 – 2:15 P.M. prior to the service with a reception and time to share memories to follow.
Jim, as he was known to most, was born on May 22, 1950 in Manning, IA, and he was the son of Alvin and Norma (Musfeldt) Jentzen. He grew up on a farm near Arcadia, IA, and graduated from Ar-We-Va High School in 1968. He attended Iowa Central Community College in Ft. Dodge where he earned a degree in Business Marketing. He was married to Lynn Van Ooyen in Oskaloosa. The couple made their home in Des Moines until moving to Canada in 1986 where they purchased Wild Goose Lake Resort. They moved back to Iowa in 1991 and Jim was employed by Hy-Vee. Jim and Lynn parted ways in 1995 and he continued to live in Dallas Center and then moved to Waukee. He was a proud member of the NRA and enjoyed competing in marksmanship competitions. Jim thoroughly loved his annual fly-in fishing trip to Canada with his friends.
Jim is survived by two daughters Steffany Jentzen of West Des Moines and Tracy Scheid (Donald) of Rye, CO; two grandsons Wyatt and Chase; his fiancée Judy Crabb of Waukee; a sister Jeanne Jentzen / Holmes (Merle) of Carroll; an aunt Melba Musfeldt of Phoenix, AZ; and other extended family members.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Norma Jentzen.
