Two Individuals Were Taken Into Custody Yesterday In Storm Lake For Animal Neglect

On Tuesday evening, the Storm Lake Police Department received information regarding possible animal neglect occurring in Strom Lake from a concerned citizen. According to authorities, they obtained a search warrant in the 500 block of W 9th Street, and at approximately 1:00 p.m. yesterday (Wednesday), they executed the search warrant at the residence. Law enforcement say they found three dogs living in unsanitary conditions in the home. The dogs were rescued and transported to a local animal hospital. Officials made contact with the residents at the scene, and 30-year-old Robert Terry and 29-year-old Courtney Terry, both of Storm Lake, were taken into custody. Both were transported to the Buena Vista County Jail and charged with three counts of animal neglect, a simple misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. They are being held on a $1,200 bond. The Storm Lake Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Buena Vista County Attorney’s Office and the Storm Lake Fire Department.
