The Carroll City Council has approved contracts for upcoming work on city streets and at the community’s wastewater treatment plant. City officials shelved plans for a complete reconstruction of Adams Street and will instead focus on restoration throughout town. Director of Public Works, Randy Krauel, says they received a single bid for the planned work.
The bid from Ten Point Construction was nearly identical to the engineer’s original estimate for the project, and the council voted unanimously to select the contractor’s bid. Work is expected to begin later this construction season and be finished no later than Nov. 15. City officials then shifted their attention to the wastewater plant, specifically its vertical loop reactor. Krauel says the aging equipment needs to be addressed soon.
Krauel says Veenstra & Kimm will also evaluate the plant’s anaerobic digester.
The city council approved both contracts for a combined total not to exceed $40,800. The proposed work at the wastewater facility will be back for additional council discussion once the engineering firm returns its findings.
