***Trish Jackson Walk to School Day cancelled due to rain***
Students in the Coon Rapids-Bayard (CRB) Community School District will celebrate healthy habits tomorrow (Tuesday) with the 12th annual Trish Jackson Walk to School Day. Jackson, who passed away in 2010, was a huge advocate for living a healthy lifestyle starting at a young age. The school began hosting the annual event to encourage kids to increase their daily physical activity. Starting at 7:40 a.m., “student bus drivers,” led by National Honor Society members, will be waiting throughout the community at different locations to walk the final stretch to class. Children using school transportation are also encouraged to participate. They will be given the opportunity to get out at one of the walking bus stops. Tuesday’s forecast shows a 30-percent chance for rain showers with temperatures expected to be in the low 40s between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. Parents are encouraged to have their children wear comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing during Trish Jackson Walk to School Day. A list of the walking school bus starting points can be found included with this story on our website.
