Sheryl Lee Mozena, 70, died April 30, 2022, with her family by her side in Guthrie Center, IA.
A funeral service will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Bayard at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, May 7, 2022 with Deacon Dennis Patrick officiating. Burial will be at Willow Township Cemetery near Bayard.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5 – 7 P.M. on Friday. There will be no visitation prior to the funeral service on Saturday.

Sherry, daughter of Glenn and Marian Katherine (Frank) Hilgenberg, was born February 20, 1952, in Manning, Iowa. She graduated from Bayard High School with the class of 1970. After graduation, Sherry attended beauty school and received her beautician license. She married her longtime friend and love, Gary Lee Mozena, on August 25, 1972, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Bayard, IA. Sherry was a dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost. She treasured each and every family member and embraced every moment with them. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, camping, and spending time with family. Sherry worked at GE for 23 years also worked at Garst Seed, Coon Rapids -Bayard HS, Iowa Savings Bank. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Marian Hilgenberg, in-laws Max and Vera Mozena; brother Bradley Hilgenberg and son-in-law Chris Waite; as well as grandparents & several aunts and uncles.
She will be deeply missed and is survived by her husband Gary Mozena of Bayard; two daughters: April (Andy) Seydel of Urbandale, IA and Cindy Waite of Woodbine, IA; seven grandchildren: Tre (Rebecca) Waite of Woodbine, IA; Ashlen Waite of Council Bluffs, IA; Sheldyn Waite of Okinawa, Japan; Ethan and Ebon Seydel of Urbandale, IA; Matt and Justin Waite; brothers and sister: Steve (Lori) Hilgenberg of Bayard, IA; Bryan (Zavette) Hilgenberg of Jefferson, IA; Craig (Monica) Hilgenberg of Cedar Rapids, IA; Cindy (Eric) Hansen of Adel, IA; a brother-in-law Tom Mozena of Bayard; and numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
