Spring cleaning time is here, and Glidden city officials are reminding residents of an upcoming opportunity to have unwanted items removed from their properties. On Friday, May 6, city crews will be out in the community starting at 6 a.m. to clear items placed at the curb. There is no cost to participate; residents can simply place their old furniture or waste materials near the street on Thursday evening to have them removed the following morning. The city also provides a dumpster in front of city hall on Friday for participants to dispose of unwanted electronic devices, such as computer towers, power cables, keyboards, or printers. Items with a screen will also be accepted, but there is a $20 fee per piece. Residents can deposit unwanted appliances in the dumpster placed at the wastewater plant entrance at no charge. City officials note all accepted items will be taken during this collection, which includes the bins or containers materials are stored in. Hazardous waste, batteries, construction materials, and other similar materials will not be accepted during the clean-up event and will be left at the curb.
