Gail Meyer of Johnston

      Gail Elaine Meyer passed to her eternal reward Sunday, May 1, 2022, in Johnston, Iowa, at the age of 70.

      Funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, May 6, 2022 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor David Kuhfal of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Des Moines officiating.  Music for the service will Heidi Skadeland.  Burial will be in the Westside Cemetery.

     Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 1 – 2 P.M. on Friday prior to the service.

     Gail was born June 16, 1951, to Glen and Deloris Wittmaack Meyer in Denison, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm south of Westside where she found a profound love for animals of all kinds. Gail loved reminiscing about life on the farm as well as family camping and fishing trips to Swan Lake.  Gail was baptized July,1951, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, and she was confirmed in 1966, at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia.  Gail graduated from Ar-We-Va High School and later earned her Registered Nursing degree from DMAAC in Ankeny. Gail worked for Mercy Hospital in Cardiac Intensive Care for many years and later for Principal Insurance, both in Des Moines.  Gail enjoyed preparing meals with her son, Brian, and was proud of his many accomplishments. She also enjoyed spending time with her extended family, never missing any family function. Gail enjoyed the companionship of several dogs during her life, especially Rascal and Buster. Gail was very active in Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Des Moines. There she worshiped her Lord and participated in many church activities through which she developed many dear friends within the congregation. Gail loved keeping in touch with extended family. Living in Des Moines, she was able to cultivate many interests including concerts, attending community events, fine dining, and playing cards. Gail used her talent in crocheting, sewing, and embroidery to create beautiful items which she enjoyed gifting to family and friends.

     Gail is survived by her sisters, Janet (Richard) Janning and Karen (Kim) Skadeland; nieces and nephews, Tami Skadeland, Tracy (Bob) Sanford, Kevin (Heidi) Skadeland, Nicholas Janning, and Brenda (Levi) Johnson; great-nieces and nephews, Kaci, Kyle, Lydia, Rachel, Noah, Logan, and Maren; aunt, Helen Haase; and many extended family and friends.

     Gail was preceded in death by her son, Brian Meyer, and her parents, Glen and Deloris Meyer.
