The CCSD Board Of Education Voted Unanimously To Help Fund $10,000 For Merchant Park Renovations

The Carroll Community School District Board of Education met last night (Monday) with only a few items on their agenda, including a funding request for Merchants Park and a preschool presentation. Superintendent, Dr. Casey Berlau, says the City of Carroll is asking for $10,000 for renovations at the historic ballfield.

The board voted unanimously to help fund up to $10,000 for the Merchant Park renovations. The City of Carroll is working with Region XII Council of Governments staff to submit a Destination Iowa Grant which would cover 40 percent of the project cost. The board then moved to a preschool presentation. Fairview Elementary Principal, Patrick Rabbitt, says they are asking to move preschool from five days to four days, and Kuemper Catholic will be on board with this. Rabbitt lays out what the preschool looks like now.

If approved, preschool teachers would still work five days a week, one of them being a professional development day which would double how many days they have now. The board did not take action on this and will bring it up at an upcoming meeting. The next CCSD Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 23, at Adams Elementary in the boardroom.
