Beginning tonight (Thursday), the City of Westside will begin their spring hydrant flushing procedures. Crews will travel throughout town and open the outlets to dislodge mineral deposits or iron build-up in city water mains. Residents may experience discolored or “rusty” water. While it is safe to drink, it may stain laundry if washing machines are used during this time. If water discoloration occurs, simply turn on the tap nearest the water main and allow it to run until it appears clear. Hydrant flushing in Westside is expected to finish in a single day.
