Brian Parker of Harlan, formerly of Glidden

Brian Kelly Parker, age 58, of Harlan, IA, formerly of Glidden, IA, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022, from injuries sustained in a construction accident near Red Oak, IA.

     A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden. Honorary bearers will be Nick Ehrecke, Brandon Ehrecke, Scott Wempe, Brandon Lobb, and Jason Gray.

     Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden  and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com.

     Brian was born on August 2, 1963, in Des Moines, IA, and was the son of Jerry and Betty (White) Parker. At the age of 3, the family made Glidden home and he attended the Glidden Community Schools graduating with the Class of 1981. He then enlisted into the United State Airforce. During his tour of duty, he served in Amsterdam. He returned to Carroll, IA, and was employed as a brick layer for several years. He moved to Phoenix, AZ, for several years and worked various jobs there until moving back to Iowa. He lived in Avoca, IA for a short time until 2006 when he made Harlan, IA home. During this time, he was employed in Denison as a security guard at the packing plant for a few years and most recently worked for Sta-Bilt Construction Company in Harlan for the last 16 years until the time of his death.

     Brian was one to always be on the go whether it was picking raspberries, mushroom hunting, attending sporting events, going to the movies, or going to the many parades in the area. He loved to listen to music and was an avid concert goer attending over 70 concerts during his life. He enjoyed collecting match books and shot glasses. You could often find him walking to the local tavern in Harlan to enjoy a cold Pepsi and visit with his friends. But most of all he loved to spend time with his nieces and nephews and always had a treat for them when he seen them.

     He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister Theresa Parker.

     Brian is survived by his brother and sisters Rex Parker of Glidden, IA, Linda and husband Ralph Ehrecke of Bettendorf, IA, and Amy Parker of Glidden, IA; nieces and nephews, Shelbi Parker and husband Brandon Lobb of Chicago, IL, Tyffani Parker and significant other Scott Wempe of Carroll, IA, Tressy Parker and significant other Kyle Gallinger of West Des Moines, IA, Jason Gray and fiancé Emily St. Peter of Carroll, IA, Kelsey Gray and significant other Justin Sparks of Glidden, IA, Nick Ehrecke of Scottsdale, AZ, and Brandon Ehrecke and fiancé Natalie Ketchem of West Des Moines, IA, and Ashton Ehrecke of Palatine, IL; great nieces and nephews, Ryan, Payten, Carson, Iris, Violet, and Ivy; several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
