Gas Prices Climb Slightly Over Past Week While Diesel Sees Mild Declines In Iowa

According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, gas prices throughout the state climbed while diesel prices saw mild declines over the past week. As of Wednesday, May 18, the price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $4.15 across the state, a three-cent rise from last week and $1.25 higher than a year ago. The national average stood at $4.57, up 17 cents from May 11. Diesel dipped by four cents to a statewide average of $5.26 per gallon. Currently, diesel prices in Iowa are 32 cents below the national average of $5.58 per gallon but still $2.52 higher than in May of 2021. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged at $2.16. Natural gas prices climbed 72 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site to $8.26 per MMBtu.
