Lila Mae Thiedeman of Westside

Lila Mae Thiedeman, age 90, of Westside, IA, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Accura Healthcare in Manning, IA.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia with Pastor Benjamin Dose officiating.  Music will be by Rebecca Dose and Shelby Thiedeman.  Casket bearers will be Gene Thiedeman, Ross Thiedeman, Gerald Thiedeman Jr., Gavin Thiedeman, Jerod Thiedeman, and Parker Breiland.  Honorary casket bearers will be Jean Lawler, Eva Bilsten, Gail Luft, and Darleen Linde.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 24, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service held at 7:00 P.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com.

Lila Mae Rickers was born on October 27, 1931 to Roy H. and Clara (Hinz) Rickers in Carroll, IA.  She was baptized in January of 1932 at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1945 by Rev. Theo Tews. She graduated high school from Westside High in 1948. She then worked in the Westside State Savings Bank from 1948 to January 1955. She married Gerald Thiedeman on October 12, 1952 at Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. Theo Tews. After Gerald returned from tour of duty in Korea, they lived on the family farm south of Westside. In 1980 they retired and moved to Westside.

She belonged to Zion Lutheran church in Arcadia, LWML, Zion Ladies Aid, American Legion Auxiliary, volunteer for Community Chest for 25 years, was an Ar-We-Va copy lady for 5 years, was on the committee for Zion Harvest Supper for 20 years; she baked bread for VBS for 29 years.  She loved cooking, playing cards, bowling, and doing for her family, especially her grandchildren. Lila also enjoyed to embroider, an avid reader, and loved country music especially Alan Jackson “Don’t Worry About Me”.

Lila was survived by her husband Gerald of Westside; three sons, Gene (Carmen) of Westside, Ross of Dallas, TX, Gerald Jr. “Chip” (Brenda) of Garner, IA; six grandchildren, Leigh Thiedeman of Lincoln, NE, Gavin (Holly) Thiedeman of Swedesboro, NJ, Shelby Thiedeman (fiancé Derrick Jackenheimer) of Port Chester, NY, Sean Thiedeman of Denver, CO,

Jerod Thiedeman of Garner, IA, Angela (Parker) Breiland of Eagan, MN; one great-granddaughter, Evelynn Breiland; sister-in-law, Gladys Rickers of Carroll, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; In-laws, Irwin and Gladys Thiedeman; brother, Merlin Rickers; and brother-in-law, Merle (Mary) Thiedeman.
