Two Weeks Left Until 2022 Primaries; Carroll County Auditor Highlights Key Points For Voters Heading Into June 7

The 2022 Iowa Primary Elections are two weeks from today (Tuesday), and Carroll County Auditor, Kourtney Payer, highlights some key details for voters before they head to the polls. The Republican and Democratic Primaries are scheduled for Tuesday, June 7 to choose which candidates appear on the ballot for the November general election. Payer says Primary Day is essentially two separate elections.

She reminds first-time voters, who will turn 18 years old by Election Day on Nov. 8, that they can participate in the June 7 Primaries if they have already registered to vote. Otherwise, they can take advantage of Iowa’s same-day registration program. Early/Absentee voting is open at the Carroll County courthouse through the close of business on Monday, June 6. However, Payer notes they understand not everybody can make it to the courthouse on weekdays, so they are running special hours the weekend before the Primaries.

For voters wishing to cast their ballots on Primary Day, Carroll County has 13 different precincts throughout the county. Payer says figuring out where to vote is a simple process.

According to Payer, there are not any contested primaries for any local offices, but several state and federal offices are on the ballot.
