On Monday, Senator Joni Ernst will be in Crawford County to participate in Memorial Day ceremonies from two local veteran groups. Ernst travels to Charter Oak for the American Legion Post #66 and Soldier Valley American Legion Riders service at 9:30 a.m. at the Charter Oak Community Building. Ernst is the first female combat veteran to serve in the U.S. Senate and retired from the Iowa Army National Guard in 2015 at the rank of lieutenant colonel.
