Senator Joni Ernst was in Jefferson today (Tuesday) on her 99-county tour. She made a pit stop at Home State Bank and met with Greene County Development Corporation (GCDC) on a new project they had started called the Greene County Diversity Project. One of the project’s founders, Carlos Arguello, highlights what the project is.
Arguello says the project is looking to bring Latinos to Greene County to help fill some open jobs and strengthen the county again, which has been losing population. Senator Ernst says she thinks the project will help the county tremendously.
The bussing system Ernst referred to would help bus workers into the county who lived outside of the county until they could find affordable housing. Several community members attended the roundtable and echoed that they are hurting from not having enough employees, and Ernst adds they need people engaging in the workforce.
Ernst made her comments at Home State Bank in Jefferson. She also visited Adair, Hamilton, and Cerro Gordo County today (Tuesday) for her 99-county tour.
