The Carroll Police Department reports officers responded to two motor vehicle accidents Wednesday. The first occurred at approximately 1:10 p.m. in the 500 block of E. Highway 30. Their initial investigation determined a 2017 Toyota Rav4, driven by 63-year-old Richard Hoyt of Carroll, was traveling westbound and started to slow for turning traffic ahead of him. A westbound 2008 Toyota Prius, operated by 34-year-old Nathan Aldag of Huxley, failed to slow for the Hoyt vehicle and collided with the rear of the SUV. No injuries were reported, but both cars sustained functional damage. Aldag was cited for failure to maintain control. The second accident occurred Wednesday evening at approximately 11:09 p.m. at the Maple and 2nd Street intersection. A 2013 Chevrolet Cruze, operated by 46-year-old Tammy Schroeder of Carroll, was turning from Maple onto 2nd Street when she attempted to avoid striking an animal in the roadway. The sedan then struck a legally parked 2008 Ford Escape, resulting in disabling damage to both vehicles. Schroeder was cited for failure to maintain control.
